Hello fellow ink drinkers! Today’s post was supposed to be a summary of our “Stalking Jack the Ripper” buddy read. However, I didn’t really feel like writing up that transcript. If you want to listen to the podcast, you can listen to it on Spotify. We also have a backlog of other episodes on Youtube, but the Youtube videos are a few weeks behind the podcast. Instead, what I wanted to do today was go over some random thoughts I’ve had about reading.
So. So far in the month of February I have read 14 books. That is a lot of reading, and probably the most reading I’ve done in a short amount of time in years. And as much as I’m somewhat tired, I have loved every minute of it. It’s been so nice to just read. And I know you are probably wondering how I have time to do all this reading. Well, I decided to quit my job. And even though right now my future is up in the air I’m so glad that I did just to get the opportunity to connect to reading again.
You see, I had loved reading as a kid and all through high school. When I went to college, I had still read a little, but wasn’t able to do nearly as much as I would have wanted to. Once I was done with college, I went into a reading slump for years. I’d read a book every so often, but it always seemed more important to watch a show or movie. I kinda lost that spark in a weird way. I kinda got it back when I was a sub and was able to read on my lunch break. I even tried to read a little bit at the clinics I worked for, but it never really worked out. As I said before, when I was introduced to audiobooks, some more love of reading came back due to the freedom that audiobooks allow. But it wasn’t back 100%. It wasn’t until now that I finally feel like I’m back to being able to read and I”m loving every minute of it.
Now that I have time to read again, I realize just how much I’ve missed it. It's probably weird to say that I’ve missed flipping through pages, exploring new worlds, meeting new characters; but I’ve missed all of that and more. It’s been beyond fun to read as I would want to again. And I know this won’t last forever, but I’ll take whatever I can get.
Anyway, sorry for the short post but I just wanted to write this. Hope to see you all next week.
